What Holiday Hosts Stress About Most

Some of us are still trying to get costumes and candy sorted for Halloween, but the holidays will be here before we know it. One of the best parts of the season is getting together with loved ones, but a new survey reveals three-quarters of Americans who are hosting guests for the holidays are stressed out about it.

According to the poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults commissioned by Article and conducted by OnePoll:

  • While 59% say they enjoy hosting guests at home, a third (32%) admit they never feel prepared to have people over.
  • A “wish list” of things that would make hosting less stressful include a bigger budget (32%), a larger room (30%), convenient food and drink options (27%) and more seating (23%).
  • Over two-thirds (71%) need at least a day to get their homes ready to have people over, and three days to be ready for guests, but 20% just rush to clean hours before guests arrive.
  • For 55%, it’s important that their guests have a positive opinion of their home, while 31% admit they’re so worried about their guests being comfortable that they forget to enjoy themselves.

The top things stressing out holiday hosts:

  • Making sure everyone enjoys themselves - 32%
