Lifestyle Habits the World's Healthiest People Share

If you’ve watched an episode of “Down to Earth with Zac Efron,” you probably learned all about the Blue Zones. These are the five regions where the people living there consistently live longer lives. The five places are Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California. People living here tend to experience less disease and live healthier lives… al while eating more carbs!

How does this happen? Dan Buettner and his research team looked into it and found nine common lifestyle habits in these communities, that he coined the “Power 9.” These things can better the quality of our lives, too, so you may want to consider integrating them.

  1. Work out less and move more.
  2. Find your purpose.
  3. Find ways to relive stress – and prioritize them.
  4. Eat consciously and listen to your body.
  5. Incorporate more plants into your diet.
  6. Drink a glass of wine regularly, in moderation.
  7. Practice some form of spirituality.
  8. Put family and loved ones first.
  9. Have a positive social circle.
