Women Reveal What Helps Them Sleep Well

We know how important it is to get consistent, quality sleep, but that doesn’t mean we know how to actually get it. Some of us toss and turn, others can’t seem to fall asleep or stay asleep and end up watching the clock until the alarm goes off in the morning. As a result, those of us desperate for sleep will do just about anything to get it and the ladies of Reddit are here to help.

A post on the site’s Ask Women section asks, “What are your tips for getting a good night’s sleep?” These are some of the top responses:

  • “Don’t have a baby (I have a baby)”
  • “Black out curtains.”
  • “Have a shower and put some light music”
  • “Chamomile tea. Establishing a “wind down” routine helps. Helps trick your brain into thinking it’s time to rest…”
  • “Exercise for sure helps me sleep better at night”
  • “Consciously relax every part of your body. Mainly unclenching my teeth and making sure my tongue is not touching the roof of my mouth. It’s definitely been helping!”
  • “Getting out for a 20-30 min walk in the morning light has made a HUGE difference for me.”
  • “My personal preference is weed but melatonin works too and cutting caffeine off 2-3 hours before bed.”
  • “Ambien”
  • “Routine. Not necessarily going to sleep at the same time though that helps, but like a bed ritual.”
  • “Don’t sit scrolling on your phone like I’m doing!”
  • “Magnesium oil sprayed on the bottoms of my feet has helped me tons!”
  • “I used to use a guided sleep meditation app called pzizz every night but now can do it on my own. I’m out in 3 minutes and get good sleep.”
  • “No booze, exercise, go to bed at the same time every night.”
  • “A bubble bath before bed and a book instead of my phone. Alternatively, a teaspoon of mustard on a cracker. Works every time.”
  • “Close Reddit”
