Why You Shouldn't Have Your Partner in Your Profile Pic

You have a new S.O., and you want to show them off, I get it! But you may want to think twice before you change your profile pic to one of the two of you. Sure, it’s one thing if you two have been together for years or are engaged. But it’s another if it’s a new relationship.

Why? Well, there are quite a few reasons why you should keep your partner out of your profile picture.

  1. A profile picture is the first impression of you — what’s it got to do with your partner?
  2. It puts less pressure on your relationship.
  3. There’s a difference between posting pics with your S.O. and posting a couple’s profile pic.
  4. It keeps people out of your business… kind of.
  5. If you break up, you definitely have to change it.
  6. You’ll avoid the layer of pain that comes with changing it when you break up.
  7. It’s your profile, not your and your significant other’s profile.
  8. You might find out that you’re not on the same page.
  9. It doesn’t mean you’re in less of a healthy relationship.
  10. You shouldn’t define yourself by your significant other.
