Worried Parents Will Love This New Apple Feature

Parents know there are all kinds of location services, tracking devices and apps they can download to help them keep track of their kids so they don’t worry so much. But there is something very comforting about knowing precisely where your child is at any given time. And now a new Apple feature will make that easier to do.

At the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2023 earlier this week, the company announced a new iOS 17 iMessage feature called “Check In” that will send automatic updates to selected contacts, like mom and dad, to let them know when you’ve made it to your destination.

  • It can also track a journey and send automated updates if the person you’re tracking is late or deviates from the route.
  • The feature also lets users share locations, check battery levels and share cell service status, so the person tracking you will know if you can’t take their call.

A mom on TikTok shared a clip from the Apple conference, expressing her gratitude for the new safety feature. “As a crime junkie listener and a mom of four, this is amazing,” she writes. “Maybe it just seems like another iOS update, but I’m thinking about the lives potentially saved.”
