Don't Do These Self-Destructive Things After a Breakup

Breakups are hard, no one is denying that. But there are some bad habits we can adopt that’ll just make the breakup even harder. Stop doing these! You want to make getting through a breakup easier on yourself, not harder.

These things may feel good in the moment, but in the long run, they’re not just hindering you from moving on, but they’re unhealthy, too. Don’t fall into these self-destructive behaviors, no matter how much “better” you think they’re making you feel.

  1. Eat everything.
  2. Become a hermit.
  3. Obsess about everything you did wrong.
  4. Refuse to accept it’s over.
  5. Rebound directly into a new relationship.
  6. Date people who are all wrong for you.
  7. Fixate on getting revenge.
  8. Go on a spending spree.
  9. Bad mouth him or her to everyone you know.
  10. Let jealousy get the best of you.
