The first month of dating is so exciting!! You learn a lot about each other, and the potential of the relationship, during that time, too. With all of that excitement and pressure, it can be easy to make some dating mistakes you’d normally know better than to make. To help you not make them, here’s nine of the biggest mistakes you can make during that first month.
- Make plans for the distant future. That turns this into a pressure situation and could scare away the other person.
- Use the “L” word. Sure, you’re falling for each other, but don’t say the “L” word just yet.
- Talk about your future wedding. Similar to number one, don’t get ahead of yourself.
- Introduce your date to your entire family. The first month should be your get-to-know-you time, not get-to-know each other’s families.
- Co-purchase something together. Keep purchases separate the first month, otherwise, you’re adding a premature level of commitment.
- Slam your ex. This info is just unnecessary and paints you in a bad light more than your ex.
- Ask for money. No, and if they ask you for some, red flag.
- Give them a key. Don’t merge your lives together too
- Show up at their work. Their work’s their space, respect that. Let them tell their coworkers about you first before you just show up there.
