Majority Of Americans Admit To Watching Movies & TV For The Villain

While a lot of people watch movies and TV shows to see the hero save the day, it turns out that there are probably a lot of people way more interested in the villain of the story. A new survey Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Butterfinger finds:

  • 60% of Americans admit they often watch a movie or TV series for the villain.
  • In fact, 51% say they “always” or “often” root for a villain in the story.
  • 77% say a villain can either make or break a TV show or movie.
  • 25% of people say they prefer villains over heroes.
  • As for what makes the best villains, qualities include:
    • Cool powers (41%)
    • A sinister voice (39%)
    • An amazing costume or accessories (37%)
    • A powerful sidekick (36%)
    • High-tech (36%)
    • Over-the-top funny (32%)
    • A striking haircut (30%)
  • When it comes to types of villains people feel are the best, the top archetypes include;
    • Vampire (34%)
    • Zombie (27%)
    • Devil (27%)
    • Mob boss/member (26%)
    • Werewolf (25%)
    • Wizard (23%)
    • Clown (22%)
    • Pirate (22%)
    • Hacker (21%)
    • Spy (20%)
