While a lot of people watch movies and TV shows to see the hero save the day, it turns out that there are probably a lot of people way more interested in the villain of the story. A new survey Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Butterfinger finds:
- 60% of Americans admit they often watch a movie or TV series for the villain.
- In fact, 51% say they “always” or “often” root for a villain in the story.
- 77% say a villain can either make or break a TV show or movie.
- 25% of people say they prefer villains over heroes.
- As for what makes the best villains, qualities include:
- Cool powers (41%)
- A sinister voice (39%)
- An amazing costume or accessories (37%)
- A powerful sidekick (36%)
- High-tech (36%)
- Over-the-top funny (32%)
- A striking haircut (30%)
- When it comes to types of villains people feel are the best, the top archetypes include;
- Vampire (34%)
- Zombie (27%)
- Devil (27%)
- Mob boss/member (26%)
- Werewolf (25%)
- Wizard (23%)
- Clown (22%)
- Pirate (22%)
- Hacker (21%)
- Spy (20%)
