Some people are constantly making commitments to change their lifestyle for the better, but the truth is, those commitments don’t really last too long. In fact, a new survey reveals just how long they usually last, and you may be surprised with how little time people stick with things. A new survey finds:
- 53% of people say they made commitments to make positive changes in their habits over the past year.
- The most common habits people tried to adopt include:
- Exercising more often.
- Going to bed earlier.
- Walking 10,000 steps each day.
- Eating less meat and more salad.
- Drinking less alcohol
- Having more “me” time.
- And while these are all great habits to adopt, the survey finds the average person will stick with these new habits for only seven weeks.
- And 21% of people stick with them for just a month.
- But the issue may be that people make too big a commitment towards changing their habits.
- That may be why 54% of people nave now vowed to stick to little changes to their lifestyle from now on.
- 72% of people insist small goals are more achievable.
- 67% say they’ll fail if they try to take on too many changes at once.
- The main reasons people look to make lifestyle changes include:
- Improving physical health (32%)
- Saving money (31%)
- To do their part for the planet (24%)
- The top reasons they fail include:
- Lack of willpower (27%)
- Lack of motivation (27%)
- Lack of time (20%)
