We’ve all seen movies that were so bad, they made us wish we could get that time back, but every once in a while, a movie is just so awful we can’t even finish it. Earlier this summer, author Stephen King tweeted that the one and only movie he’s ever walked out on was “Transformers.” MamaMia asked women to name the terrible movie they had to give up on and why and here’s what they had to say.
- “Interview With The Vampire” - “I couldn’t finish it. I was 18 and at the cinema with friends, unfortunately, I just had to get up and leave because it genuinely made me feel physically sick.”
- “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” - “I hated every minute of that film, my partner however loved it! Most women agree with me about how terrible it was.”
- “50 Shades of Grey” - “I left halfway through and couldn’t believe I spent money on a ticket … It’s just so cringe and the script is so poorly written.”
- “Jurassic Park” - “I was 10 years old and it terrified me. In one of the first scenes, there is a guy who gets eaten by a T-Rex. After seeing that, I just grabbed my seven-year-old sister and left. She was fine with it and wanted to stay, but I told staff she was too scared and made them give us a refund!”
- “House of 1000 Corpses” - “I have only walked out of a movie once … it was “House of 1000 Corpses” by Rob Zombie. I should have known it was bad when the ticket guy said, ‘Are you SURE you want to watch this movie?’ And when I said ‘Yes,’ he had this very worried look on his face.”
- “Melancholia” - "I enjoy films that challenge me, but I couldn't endure more than half of ‘Melancholia,’ the apocalyptic Lars Von Trier movie with Kirsten Dunst. It's incredibly depressing and nihilistic with no silver linings – just pure misery porn!”
- “Don’t Mess With the Zohan” - “Not only was it absolutely terrible, it wasn’t funny, and the reviews and ads really did not make it clear how not just crass, but pathetically vulgar it was.”
- “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin” - “It’s one of my all-time favorite novels and it was completely butchered! I left the cinema halfway through.”
- “Kill Bill: Volume 1” - “I only lasted two minutes before leaving … I’ve never been able to make it the whole way through a Quinten Tarantino movie due to the horrific violence.”
