Dating Myths That Are So Outdated

There are tons of dating “rules” out there today and more than half of them are so unnecessary – and like so 1992. Don’t let these outdated and stereotypical dating myths hold you back from shooting your shot or being straightforward with someone you’re interested in.

  • Myth #1: You shouldn’t text them back straight away – The idea is that if you respond too quickly to a text, you could appear clingy or desperate. But if the person on the end really likes you, they’ll be thrilled to see your name pop up on their phone. What are you waiting for?
  • Myth #2: Men should always take the lead – Sure, guys might find it attractive when a girl makes the first move but 63% of people still feel that society excepts men to do so. Just 8% feel that women are expected to.
  • Myth #3: Women have a dating shelf life – Research from Bumble revealed that 42% of people believe that women are expected by society to find a partner and settle down before a certain age. Only 13% of people believe this is the case for men. This myth reinforces to things that aren’t true; A) that women are somehow less desirable as they age and B) that everyone wants to find a partner and settle down in the first place.
