Y2k-inspired looks were everywhere in 2021 and people aren’t ready to let go of them just yet. Expect even more trends from the early 2000s to take over the fashion and beauty world in 2022 as well. According to Pure Wow, these beauty trends will rule this year:
- Hair bandanas- Who did it better Lizzie McGuire or the Olsen twins? There are a ton of ways to wear one of these Y2k fashion staples.
- Snap clips- You’re 25-year-old self will feel like it's paying homage to your 5-year-old self with snap clips on one or both sides of your hair. Keep those baby hairs and overgrown bangs in check.
- Glitter eyeshadow- Don’t hold back with the eye makeup. Play around with all the frosted and shimmery eyeshadows you can find.
- High-contrast lips- Change up your nude lip and make a statement. Visible lip liner was a big no-no not too long ago but now everyone from J.Lo to Megan Thee Stallion embraces the look.
- Return of the bling- Stick-on crystal tattoos and embellishments were at every school dance back in middle school and now they’re appearing again.
- Face-framing hair strands- Next time you go to pull your hair back, leave two strands of hair parted down the middle down to frame your face.
- Thinner brows- The time has come for those with naturally thinner eyebrows who are tired of trying to make theirs appear fuller and thicker.
