We all have our own holiday traditions that we look forward to every year. Some are common ones that most of us do, like decorating a tree, but others are unique to their family. Looking for something new to do with your loved ones this holiday season? Give one of these wacky and original things moms say are their favorite holiday traditions a try:
- “Feliz Navidad” Prank- “My sister and I both HATE the song ‘Feliz Navidad,’ so we spend most of the holiday season trying to find ways to trick the other one into hearing it,” one mom explains. “I’m talking voicemail messages, musical cards, sending each other ugly themed sweaters, hidden links to videos of it online, all of that! “
- Eight Sexy Nights- Another mom shares that she and her partner try to have sex every night of Hanukkah! “Sometimes it’s hard to get in the mood, especially if we’ve had too much fried food,” she shares. “But it’s also a good way to stay connected during a busy time of year.”
- “International traditions- “Every year we choose a new country and try to learn about the Christmas or winter holiday traditions in that place,” a mom says. “The kids like it and it’s fun to try new foods or ways of gift giving.”
- Christmas color meals- Another family only eats food that is red and green on Christmas Eve, which leads to some odd combos and a lot of excuses to eat candy. The mom explains, “Sure, red Starbursts and Red Vines is a totally valid breakfast choice!”
- Naughty list- “My husband gets me something from the adult store every year and hides it in our room somewhere,” reveals one mom. “It’s wrapped and labelled ‘from Santa’ and let me tell you, Santa is a perv!”
- Grazing day- Don’t like spending all day cooking on Christmas? Follow this mom’s lead and make it the day of snacking. “We have cheese and crackers, popcorn, ALL THE PIE, chips and dips, and just basically all day grazing,” she explains. “It’s relaxing and delicious.”
