Who wouldn’t want a 4-day workweek? According to a survey from Goodhire, only a small percentage of people. Yes, really! In fact, 83% of those polled in a new survey say they’re down for shrinking their days in the office.
The workers of the study were evenly divided into each “working generation,” consisting of Generation Z, Millennials, Generation X, and Baby Boomers. Millennials were the most interested in the idea at 90 percent. Meanwhile, Gen Z was the least receptive at 76 percent in the idea.
What would happen to productivity with a 4-day workweek?
This begs the question - if a four-day workweek was made into a reality, would people be any less productive? A four-year experiment was actually conducted in Iceland to figure this out.
In the experiment, more than 2,500 workers from a variety of fields earned the same amount of money for shorter hours. The trials found that workplace productivity either remained the same or improved, and researchers considered the assessment to be an “an overwhelming success.”
