Amazon May Open Department Stores

For a lot of people, the best thing about Amazon is that you never have to step foot in a store. Well, it turns out the company is hoping to change that. A report in the “Wall Street Journal” claims the online retailer is looking to open some large retail spaces, or in other words, department stores.

The paper claims “people familiar with the matter” report that the new spaces will be about 30,000 square feet, which is a bit smaller than your typical department store, which is usually about 100,000 square feet. The stores are also expected to sell products from top consumer brands

If true (Amazon hasn’t commented on the rumors), it won’t be the first time Amazon has opened a physical store. They have already opened a line of grocery stores, called Amazon Go, where folks can make in-store grocery purchases through an app.
