How many times have you heard a single friend say that they’re not trying to date right now because they want to concentrate on their career? Probably a lot since most of our generation has to work two jobs and a side-hustle to get by. But working long hours is no excuse to put your love life on hold. It can be done. Here are some tips:
- Turn on DND IRL. If you want to maintain a relationship, you have to clock out and leave work behind. No checking emails, no answering calls. When you’re with your boo, you’re with them and not your coworkers.
- Work Hard And Play Hard Together. This doesn’t mean that you and your boo should quit your jobs and go into business together…although not the worst idea. All this advice is about trying to make your partner feel like a part of who you are professionally so they’re less upset when you’re stuck at work instead of with them. Feeling involved with each other’s work lives will help you grow together.
- Communicate No Matter What. No matter how packed your schedule is, make time for your partner. It can be as small as a quick text between conference calls or a random delivery of lunch or flowers to their office. Any chance you can get to let them know you’re thinking about them the better.
