Dentist Says You're Probably Using Too Much Toothpaste

We previously told youthat a dentist recently warned people that they shouldn’t use mouthwash after brushing their teeth. Well, apparently that isn’t the only thing we're doing wrong when it comes to our dental hygiene.

Dr. K. Sarvendran, a dentist from Toronto, Canada, has gone viral on TikTok for warning folks they are using too much toothpaste, and doing so can be bad for your teeth. “This is how much toothpaste they show you in the commercials - not necessary at all," she says, as she squeezes toothpaste all the way along her toothbrush. Instead, she insists you only need a pea-sized amount.

Apparently, studies have shown that using too much toothpaste can break down enamel because of the abrasives in its ingredients. That, along with vigorous brushing, can thin down enamel over time.

Well, Dr. Sarvendran video left many folks on TikTok shocked. "Ive been using waaaay too much then (sic)," one person noted, while another added, "Thanks for the wise advice."
