Getting Tipsy on the First Date Probably Won't Get You a Second One

Don’t get drunk on a first date if you want that second date, a new survey has found. Dating app Flirtini spoke to 2,000 people and found that one in four men, and one in five women, would say no to a second date if the person got drunk on their first date.

The study also found that 50% of women and 28% of men don’t drink at all on their first date. Why? According to one in five women and one in 10 men, it dampens the mood of the date.

“It can be difficult to show our true selves on a first date – anxiety often gets the best of us. However, it’s important to understand that feeling nervous before a date is perfectly normal, dating expert and Growth Marketing Specialist at Flirtini, Anastasii Pochotna, explains. “There’s no harm in having a drink to ease your nerves, but if one drink turns into ten, that can become a problem.”

What can you do instead of drinking to help you calm those first-date jitters? Anastasii says to get to flirting and get to know each other a bit before going on a first date. ‘Knowing their interests and hobbies is a way better date starter,’ she says.
